January Life
Every month, I round up all the Inside + Outside things I’m reading, thinking about, planting, and currently loving.

Hello,
I had a big party last night and still moving slow this morning. More cleanup and sending lots of thank you texts in my future this morning. So gonna keep this short and just let you jump to the links!
Announcing a new project next week. Talk then!

INSIDE
How Veganism Got Cooked via Grub Street
I have so many feelings about this.
Flintts Mints
My friend Helen brought these mints to my party last night and need to try them all.
How To Build A Modern Girl in America via The Face
This is really heartbreaking and also great reporting.
I talk to a girl whose last real meal was on Thursday night, two whole days ago, to look better in game day and going-out photos. Hunger is kept at bay with packs of candy, stashed in purses for quick access at the bars. “It gives you quick energy and keeps you from throwing up when your mouth starts watering,” she says breezily. Another girl says that everyone’s on Ozempic, paid for by their parents, because it’s cheaper than the cost of food.
MacKenzie does it again!

Upside Down Eating and The New Pyramid
Loved Michelle’s take on this.
Tin Can
I got mine and it’s all setup! Although it’s designed for kids, truly great for adults looking for a landline / wanting less smartphone time. I have been putting my phone away a lot lately, which is annoying for people who want to get in touch. It’s not that I want to take a break from people I love, just a break from the distraction of my phone. Now they can call my Tin Can.
My favorite birthday gift.
OUTSIDE
My Q+A with Heart Be Your Guide
I share about the best gateway plants and easy first steps to experiencing the benefits of nature. Heart Be Your Guide is a really great resource if you want to shop more small businesses “that care about what they are putting into the world.” Thanks for having me!
The Plants Everyone Will Be Wanting In Their Gardens in 2026 via Clare Foster / House & Garden

“To practice phenology is an exercise in paying close attention.” Loved so much about this.
Bluestone Perennials’ 2026
All the new varieties! Have my eye on this Coreopsis, this Echinacea, and this Juniper.
Talk to you next month!
